Sacha Wasi Community

Puyo, Ecuador

The Kichwa artisans of the Sacha Wasi community in the Ecuadorian Amazon create the vibrant feather jewelry we proudly carry at Luminary Union. Each piece is handcrafted across generations using traditional techniques and sustainably gathered materials – feathers, seeds, stones, bones, and fibers that reflect the living spirit of the rainforest. Our relationship with Sacha Wasi is direct and rooted in mutual respect, ensuring that the artisans and their community receive fair compensation and recognition for their craft. Through this partnership, we help share the artistry, story, and resilience of the Kichwa people, and they are always asking us when they can send more!

Waorani Tribe

Pastaza, Orellana, & Napo Provinces, eastern Ecuador

The Waorani people of the Ecuadorian Amazon are fierce protectors of their rainforest home and culture. Known for their deep connection to the natural world, their art reflects the vibrant life of the jungle they defend. The earrings we carry from Waorani artisans are handmade using sustainably gathered seeds, fibers, and natural materials — each pair a living expression of the forest’s spirit. Our relationship with the Waorani is rooted in respect and fair exchange, honoring their craftsmanship while helping preserve both their traditions and the lands they call home.

Kuntanawa Nation

Acre, Brazil

The Kuntanawa people of Acre, Brazil are known for their deep relationship with the forest and their commitment to reviving ancestral traditions after near erasure during the rubber trade era. The Sananga and Hapé we carry at Luminary Union are prepared in collaboration with the Kuntanawa people, using sacred plants harvested in harmony with the land. Each medicine reflects generations of ecological knowledge and spiritual practice, offered with respect for their lineage and sovereignty. Through this partnership, we support the Kuntanawa’s cultural renewal and help preserve the living traditions of the western Amazon.

Kamëntšá people

Sibundoy, Putomayo Colombia

The Kamëntšá people (pronounced “Kahm-Sha”) of the Sibundoy Valley in southern Colombia are known for their vibrant artistry, cultivation of the lush landscape, and communal focus. Living where the Andes meet the Amazon, they weave the symbols of their forest-Andean world – sun, rainbows, frogs, and birds – into intricate beadwork and textiles that carry stories of balance and renewal. The pieces we carry from Kamëntšá artisans are crafted with care, prayer, and reverence for their ancestral traditions. Through our direct relationship, we honor their cultural legacy and help sustain the living art of a people who see the Earth itself as sacred design.

Shipibo-Conibo People

Ucayali River region, Perú

The Shipibo-Conibo people of the in the Peruvian Amazon are renowned for their visionary artistry and deep connection to plant medicine traditions. Their intricate geometric designs, known as kené, are visual songs – patterns that reflect the harmony between spirit, nature, and the seen and unseen worlds. The pieces we carry from Shipibo artisans are handcrafted with devotion and cultural integrity, preserving techniques passed down through generations. Each textile, adornment, and vessel embodies the living wisdom of their lineage, inviting reverence for the art, spirit, and forest from which it was born.
